NEWS RELEASE
November 30, 2007
Acorn International’s Principal, Dean Slocum, has been selected by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) to serve as editor and committee chair for the development of an SPE Reprint Volume publication on Health, Safety and Environmental best practices in the international oil and gas industry. The publication will be a collection of technical papers that are considered to be the most valuable contributions to the body of knowledge developed over the last ten years in HSE management for the industry. Mr. Slocum formed and chairs a committee of leaders in this field from Statoil, Petrobras, China National Offshore Oil Company, Chevron and Halliburton.
Acorn’s Heather Boyd is also participating in the paper review and selection process as an adjunct member of the Committee.
The HSE Reprint Volume is scheduled for publication in late 2008. More information on SPE’s Reprint Volume series can be found at www.spe.org.
SPE is the premier industry organization of over 70,000 members supporting the technical interests of global oil and gas exploration and production activities. Acorn is proud to be an active participant in SPE, including serving as a member of the Environmental Subcommittee for six SPE International HSE conferences over the last 10 years.
