Acorn International LLC is pleased to announce a number of new staff, contracts and recognitions achieved in the second half of 2009.
New Staff (both based in Houston):
David Lewis – David is a former HSE manager for Dune Energy in Houston. He has prior experience in environmental consulting focusing on environmental field investigations for onshore and offshore oil and gas exploration / production activities, environmental impact assessment and wetland delineation. David has an MS in Biology and 11 years of experience. He will be full-time in Houston and will help establish our office there in 2010.
Pandora Snethkamp, Ph.D. – (contract staff on special assignment). Pandora is one of the most experienced social performance managers in upstream oil and gas development today having worked in Chad, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Indonesia, the Peoples Republic of China, Ethiopia, and Russia. She lead the social performance/community liaison program of a major project on Sakhalin Island for many years and was a pioneering member of the Chad Development Project. As part of the latter she was instrumental in the development of social performance management standards for one of the first major bank-financed oil and gas projects in the world.
She specializes in in-house program development and implementation of international best practices (IFC Environmental and Social Performance Standards); particularly environmental and social management systems, community participatory consultation, compensation and resettlement, indigenous peoples, cultural heritage, and management of social impacts of contract workforces in complex upstream projects.
She authored the first industry-wide guideline on integrating social management concerns into oil and gas development for the Association of Oil and Gas Producers (OGP). She has a Ph.D. in Anthropology and over 25 years of experience. See Pandora's bio.

- HSE standards and an Environmental, Social and Health Impact Assessment (ESHIA) program development for one of the largest national oil companies
- Health, Safety, Environment and Communities Screening Review for a proposed oil exploration program offshore China
- EIA and Public Consultation Program management for an oil exploration program offshore Kenya
- EIA and Public Consultation Program management for three (3) separate oil and gas exploration programs offshore Cote d’Ivoire
- ESHIA facilitation for an oil production and FPSO development offshore Angola
- Environmental and Social Due Diligence Assessment per World Bank and Equator Principal standards for a Chlor-Alkali Plant development in Trinidad and Tobago
