Position:            Environmental and Social Assessment Consultant

Acorn International, LLC (no relation to ACORN) performs environmental and social risk consulting services to international industry and investors worldwide by directing and building the capacity of our in-country partners in >50 developing countries. Recent increased opportunities from multi-lateral finance organizations have generated a need for an experienced environmental and social consultant to help us with development project reviews, ESIA and related assignments. Position may be embedded within a DC-based development bank/organization with which we do business.

Skills:

·          15+ years experience in environmental consulting to international industry or lenders

·          Strong socio-cultural impact assessment and management planning / consulting experience

·          Demonstrated ability to develop a substantial amount of new business in this field

·          Strong client relations

·          Strong professional work ethic, initiative and integrity

·          Experience in performing and leading EIA, baseline studies, due diligence assessment, and related services

·          Willingness to occasionally travel to and work in developing countries on short (normally one week or less) assignments

·          Ability to provide direction to teams of experts from partner companies in other countries

·          Ability to accomplish work assignments without extensive direction

·          Ability to communicate in foreign language(s) is a strong plus.
