NEWS RELEASE

December 7, 2007

Acorn International has been selected by the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association (IPIECA) to perform a feasibility study of applying more common sustainability reporting practices across the international oil and gas industry.  The study is being performed for a committee of international oil and gas companies under IPIECA’s direction.  Acorn International’s Principal presented the initial study results to the committee and IPIECA at the API headquarters in Washington, DC in early December 2007.

Acorn International was chosen for this important assignment in part because its Principal was the leader of a 2002 effort to study and publish current industry sustainability reporting practices.  That study and more information regarding IPIECA’s sustainability reporting initiative can be found at www.ipieca.org.

IPIECA was established in 1974 following the establishment of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). IPIECA provides one of the industry’s principal channels of communication with the United Nations.  The Association aims to develop and promote scientifically-sound, cost-effective, practical, socially and economically acceptable solutions to global environmental and social issues pertaining to the oil and gas industry. IPIECA is not a lobbying organization, but provides a forum for encouraging continuous improvement of industry performance.
